The SDK collects more than 1,000 tons of used paint per year, including a significant amount of interior paint. Overall, the SDK uses the resource potential tool to find product recipients who produce secondary materials through modern recycling processes and thus implement the circular economy. Until now, this was not possible for used paint. Instead, it was processed into alternative fuels, which is a step forward compared to the previously common incineration of problematic waste, but nevertheless constitutes downcycling. Robin Paints and the SDK are now showing how regional material flows can be closed.
For RobinLoop, primarily used paint collected from citizens is used to produce recycled paint. Currently, this concerns white interior wall paint. After a two-stage quality control at SDK and Robin Paints, the used paint is used to produce new paint.

Outdoor candle

Candles are not only beautiful; their wax is also a high-quality raw material. Every household has leftover wax and candles that are normally thrown away. But what happens to them once they’ve burned? Because it’s a shame for the energy they still contain.
Since 2020, the SDK has been organizing the collection of candle leftovers through the SDK’s problematic product collection in cooperation with the Peters Käerzefabrik in Heiderscheid. Therefore, don’t throw unused or incompletely burned candles in the household waste! Use the SDK’s mobile collection system or drop them off at your local Resource Center. Candle leftovers are first checked at the SDK center in Colmar-Berg to see if they meet the requirements. At the Peters Käerzefabrik, they are then used in the production of new candles, torches, and tealight holders.
The reuse of candles and candle wax in Luxembourg is a good example of the circular economy and the promotion of local producers and circuits.
