Target group
Waste, environmental and/or resource management employees/managers from companies, teaching staff, and public sector employees.

Objectives of the training

The aim of the training is to provide participants with a well-founded overview of the current ecological challenges facing our planet. In the process, they get to know the Luxembourg waste management system with its key players and the principles of waste separation. In addition, national and European legislation, as well as the waste hierarchy concept, are explained in a clear and accessible manner and discussed with participants. Another focus is on waste prevention and the circular economy as central approaches to the conservation of natural resources. The practical conclusion is a visit to the SDK logistics centre.

Certificates and Evaluation

At the end of the training, the partner educational institution will issue a certificate of attendance.

Training focus

After the training, participants will be able to:

  • fundamentally classify current challenges such as excessive resource use and climate change,
  • explain the global impact of intensive use and exploitation of natural resources,
  • identify policy requirements and measures for the sustainable use of resources at national and European level,
  • name important institutions and organisations involved in resource management in Luxembourg,
  • explain the basic principles of the circular economy and distinguish them from the traditional linear economy.
